In 1989 Waterway introduced the fire service to a new concept in fire hose testing... outsourcing. The idea of providing fire departments with an alternative to in house testing was a bold concept to say the least. Realizing that the annual NFPA required test was a time consuming, labor intensive task that was also dangerous to fire personnel, fire departments quickly saw the value in this service. As a result growth has been steady and continuous as more departments join the increasing number of Waterway customers.

With the vision to expand across the U.S., Waterway began the process of creating franchise opportunities.

As a result Waterway now has franchises up and down the East Coast and the Mid West owned by fire-fighters who can carry out fire hose and, in most cases,ladder testing to the same high ISO standards as the parent company.

Waterway of Michigan is one of these franchises.  Waterway Of Michigan has been in business since 2008 and has more than doubled its customer base each year with over 125 customers in 2011.  Dave Van Putten is the owner/operator with over 15 years fire experience and currently holds the office of chief.

With over 20 years experience as well as millions of feet of hose tested, Waterway continues to develop and refine tools and equipment that make the job more efficient and safer for hose testing crews.
